Learn how to write a good memory

Learning to write a thesis proposal GOOD.

A document presented to students last year IPAM, University of Sierra Leone.

AIMS ANDLOBJECTIVES

The overall objective of this paper is to provide a guide to help students in choosing their dissertation topics, developing their thesis project and

writing their final theses.

At the end of the seminar, students must:

– Understand what a dissertation and its importance, and purpose.

Being able to identify and avoid common problems in undergraduate memories.

-To help students choose their dissertation topics.

-To highlight the requirements and memory contents.

-To be able to develop a research project or thesis.

Introduction

If you think that writing a thesis is simple, you must think twice.

The essence of this document is to help students make a good argument for the award their diplomas.

First of all students need to know the importance of not only written submissions, theses, but understand. A thesis is not all about getting grades. A memory extends far beyond the completion of your diploma. It is the first test of your creativity. A thesis is an opportunity to identify and explore your areas of interest. A memory supposed to be an academic piece of work. Thus, we must look at the concepts, principles, methods, analysis. It could be a synthesis most of what you have acquired over the years in college. It is a structured piece of work. This is not an article. Your paper says lot about you. It highlights your ability to communicate, test your powers of analysis, and draw valid conclusions. With your essays, you have the ability to know your strength or weakness. Theses show if you have the opportunity to plan or make decisions under pressure

JUSTIFICATION.

The last discussion I had with the external examiner She said she had to downgrade almost all graded A thesis, because they lack academic content. On the basis that I decided review of written statements by students IPAM (first cycle for the last 3-4 years). The question I asked my self is whether there is a lower grade level, or are we focusing more on learning that the research work. Looking at this from the academic point of view, then the inability Students submit a thesis of good means that they will not get better grades. However, if our students can not make a submission good, then they would not be able to identify and solve contemporary problems in later life. They would not be able to develop projects that help their communities and countries.

Some problems related to the memory of students are:

In-appropriate topic

-Related Topics

-Lack of understanding of the literature review

review of the literature too long.

Goals-related topic

-Objectives not properly reported

Problem not well-structured state

Grammatical errors

-Lack of consistency and logical flow throughout the thesis

Questionnaires-inappropriate.

-Analysis

-Predictable result.

IMPORTANCE Theses:

.

  • -Memories are in most cases, Students first original detailed work

– To a great extent the students who really understand writing thesis will be able to develop concrete projects of their own. Because you wrote a thesis does not mean that you understand dissertations For example, ask a few people who have written theses to explain what a statement of the problem is, and you'll be surprised. Do not try to write an essay without understanding what is about memory. Those who might choose a dissertation in the library, not knowing if its good or not and then copy the format, will write an essay, but certainly not understand what a dissertation is. If you wrote a thesis dissertation without understanding it means that your memory is not good enough. The fact that professors do not publish in Sierra Leone could be because they do not understand how write an essay well, or they forgot. . A research paper in a journal is just a condensed form of the essay. However, it could also be attributed to the fact that there are no incentives.

  • Some argument can be published. Some theses written by students were published. Even undergraduates.
  • -Some people have developed a career based on their memory. This is a case of a Nigerian student in London, which has based its claim on the British Railways (Road) and made a discovery that has saved them lots of money and was employed as a consultant.
  • – Some memories contribute to discoveries. Some companies like Microsoft, pay the amount of money for researchers and volunteers go through the students thesis of new ideas or innovations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Students should also understand the needs of each university memories.
  • What weight is assigned to memory your university? Six credits, equal to two subjects. Thus, an A in the Dissertation: A two as in two subjects.
  • Of course, you must write your thesis in your area

  • -What should be the sections of your memory, how many chapters
  • -What should be the minimum number of words?
  • -What should be the format?
  • -What should be the color? In some universities each area has its own color course.
  • -How are the scores for different parts of the thesis. (See attached marking scheme)
  • Dissertation-Presentation: The standard required is an A4 page, single-sided, one and a half-line spacing with the left margin for binding 40mm left and right margins of at least 15mm. (See the guide for thesis IPAM).

SELECTING A thesis:

Certainly there will always be many theories as there are writers. The only problem is to choose one. As long as there are problems to solve, issues to be addressed, opportunities to exploit, and to make discoveries, relations are established, comparisons be made, theories to be proved, or the hypothesis to be tested, there will always dissertations, thesis, or writing projects. This statement highlights the direction and scope of the theses. Is this around the world or a apartment? This issue has taken a very long time to respond.

The process of memory.

"All Topics not simply out of the blues "

: The choice of a subject is a process. It begins with the recognition of a problem. He then moves along the following steps:

-Problem/opportunity The identification of relations, the formulation

-Creating the design Search

-Choice of research method

-Data Collection

-Data Analysis

-Writing and presentation of the report.

Thus an argument revolves around the steps outlined above

– You first read, reflect and discuss your ideas. Keep a notebook for jotting ideas, questions and

-References. Start with a broad focus. Of course, you must locate your particular study within a broader academic debate.

Until Do you start reading, research and writing, you can not begin to narrow your focus.

-Try to make your subject concerned that explores a relationship between two or more ideas, variables, concepts, phenomena, events or things. You do not need to know the answers before you start.

-Also, do not drift along waiting for the perfect subject to get there: Almost anything you choose, when couched in terms of a feasible project can become a university thesis well.

Well-being or the subject of your thesis should be related to principles, concepts and issues addressed in the course of advanced topics (s) is an opportunity identify and explore your own areas of interest.

As-examine your personal enthusiasms, it is also important that the design of your project with an awareness of the constraints that you encounter.

Questions you should ask:

-Is that about keeping your interest in the coming months.

-Is there an existing literature within which you can locate your work

-Is there enough material to provide proof that you will need?

-Do a research topic as you can with the time and resources?

-Do you have time and opportunity for empirical work?

Always remember the following:

A PhD is not necessary to be a totally new, revolutionary, re-write the revelation manuals.

Studying an old essay in a new way, in a different perspective, may be a new contribution.

– All theses are aimed at solving a particular problem or the identification of opportunities. Therefore, make sure your theme addresses a real problem or issue.

-The thesis must be chosen appropriate for the subjects you have to work with. You should be able to apply the techniques, concepts, principles that you have acquired.

-Ideally, Your subject should be of interest to your advisor.

– - A good thesis should contribute to the field or subject. Determine a gap in existing scholarship, as a question that has not been addressed, or a new application of established methodologies.

– Watch journal articles and books recently published, and recently completed thesis in your department, because the authors often suggest questions and research areas arising from their work.

– Otherwise, a question out of university missions or labor issues, then investigate the nature projects that you have enjoyed working in the past.

-Find the gaps in knowledge in your field of study. It is essential to know what has been discovered and studied before, relating to your field, then try to identify gaps in your field.

For example, there an accounting standard for the public sector?. Is it effective?.

Marketing principles are applied within non-governmental organizations:

What are consumer perceptions of the proliferation of banks in Sierra Leone. What will the effect on the economy.

-Look for something clearly not vague. Your thesis is your research that demonstrates your understanding of the subject clearly.

-Be organized Optimize your search efforts

-Choose a domain first and then a PhD.

-Your research skills. One way to assess your research skills and make sure they are up is to pursue a potential subject of your research methods and statistics courses where you can get immediate feedback from an instructor. You can use these courses to work on potential problems in your methodology or your review of the literature.

– A good thesis is located in a current literature

– Is there an existing field of literature in which you can work? Is there enough literature available?

PROPOSAL FORMAT:

The thesis proposals are still dependent on the land, the subject you are interested you can propose a subject under accounting education, philosophy, business, history or social sciences.

A proposal for the sample must have quality preview that you can send it to your teacher. Some of the parts needed can be learned. What follows below are the settings of your thesis project.

-Introduction

-Problem statement

-Goals and Objectives

-Justification

Brief Review of the literature.

research methodology

Unless otherwise by the institution, supervisor, about 3-5 pages just to highlight the issues above and to convince the supervisor that the theme is worthy of investigation

Introduction:

The introduction is a summary of 100-200 words stating what the objectives are, what you write. Many students confuse this section with the background history sections / but in general they should be separated.

A good formula for your introduction is to contextualize the question as concisely as possible. Answer the following questions:

Y Is there a problem?

-What is it?

Why does it take to resolve?

Who will benefit from your investigation?

"In what direction will they benefit

-In what sense is my contribution add to what is already known

What, in general terms you will solve the problem. example, collect data, analyze the data.

-With methods? example the study of case

-What are the constraints or limitations of the study.

Problem Statement:

The problems are normally considered as deviations normal. Think about your health problem that the gap between what should happen in your community and what is happening. This gap between the state of health acceptable or desirable and the current state.

How to do it.

To write your problem statement, briefly answer these questions:

-What should happen?

-What is the situation?

Who is affected and to what extent?

-What would happen if the problem is not addressed?

examine the data on your problem:

From age

-Between the sexes

-race/ethnicity

Socio-economic status

geographical distribution.

example of communication problems:

The Socio-economic impact of traffic congestion in Sierra Leone.:

The increase in the number or cars and people in Freetown, and lack of decentralization of facilities has resulted or highlighted a looming problem, which if not treated will not affect only the economy and social life, but the development and productivity. This problem is traffic congestion. Over the last 10 years Not only has the population of Freetown grew 600 percent from 400,000 to 1.8 million, but the traffic situation in Freetown has also become acute. Statistics show that on average 5,000 cars were imported into the country each year. And since we have maintained the same number of roads since independence with no other means of transport, for example, sea or rail, the problem could not be overemphasized. Although the issue of adequate roads is a factor leading to the situation, the quality of roads is an important factor. The research also revealed that a total of 11,000 km of roads in the country, only 900 km (10%) of roads are paved.

If this problem is not resolved over the next five years to 10 years, this situation will be so alarming that the cars would not be able to move from east to west. The effect on the economy, in terms of hours lost work, transportation, and productivity would be alarming. Therefore, there should be an immediate plan to address this problem if a critical situation must be addressed in the future.

BACKGROUND ESSAY:

The memory context is an article written with the assumption that the reader knows nothing and should therefore give a full account of what they need to know to appreciate the stakes.

The historical context and the article of your paper highlights the empirical bases of the question you have chosen.

The purpose of an article background is to give the reader the facts about your chosen dissertation topic so that they understand the material or matter that you write more later, and links to your rhetorical question. It must not only fill in the details of the place or topic you are looking for, but implicitly illustrate the need and the importance of your research. For example, how was led marketing efforts to the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank without a marketing department. If the topic is on marketing strategies of commercial banks in Sierra Leone. The context should not only be the background of a commercial bank.

Research Question / Hypothesis.

This section lists the research questions, it is also acceptable to submit hypothesis.

An example would be:

1) What are the attitudes of … ..

2) Is there a significant difference between … ..

3) Is there a significant relationship between …

Significance of the study:

This section creates a point of view to look at the problem. It outlines how your study focuses on major issues and uses a convincing rationale to justify the reason for your study. It is the subject worth pursuing. The importance of the study answered questions:

Why is your study important?

To whom is it important?

What benefit (s) occurs if your study is done?

Literature

Literature review is the systematic study of all existing work that is relevant to the research. It focuses the location of reading, evaluating and reporting related quote

research.

Literature review helps the researcher remarked that the extent in which previous research has addressed the problem at hand.

literature review also guides the adoption of another and best methodology to address the problem than previously forecast by the survey.

During the review of the literature, the researcher understanding of the issues is expanded. This puts the researcher in a better position for professional intelligent guesses about the tentative answers to questions research (hypothesis

In addition, subsidies literature review of research and awareness of the range of appropriate instruments for collecting data available.

For example, if the thesis is an evaluation of the effectiveness of an audit system in the public sector, the literature should include discussions on what other authors have written about an effective control system in general and in the pulic sector in particular. What are the problems, questions, What is the best method to investigate such a system. authors cite.

Research objectives:

The problem / opportunity formulation results in the formulation of research objectives. These objectives are set out in depending on the specific information needed and wanted to solve the problem of research. Well-formulated objectives serve as a roadmap in developing the research project. They also serve as a standard external examiners can assess the quality and value of the work. Were the objectives met and that the recommendations flow logically from the objectives and research findings.were the research objectives achieved

Objectives must be as precise and unambiguous as possible. Remember that any research effort in terms of time and money is directed towards achieving objectives. When the researcher highlights the research objectives, the supervisor must agree that the objectives can not achieve the objective. The objectives are what is necessary to achieve the objectives.

Methodology:

The methodology section outlines your basic research plan. It usually begins with some short introductory paragraphs that restate the purpose and research questions.

A research design, descriptive or causal, is chosen according to project objectives. The next step is to choose a means of collecting data. There are three methods Research base:

-Survey

-Observation

-Experience.

Survey:

Investigation research is often descriptive in nature, but it may be causal. Survey research involves interaction with the interviewer respondents, in person or by mail, to obtain facts, opinions, and attituded. A questionnaire is used to provide a methodical and structured approach to data collection. In face to face can take place in the house of the respondent in a mall, or in a place of business.

Comment: Comment is looking for research that monitors the actions of respondents, without direct interaction.

Experience:

Experiments are third method researchers use to collect data. An experiment is research in which the investigator changes one or more variable-price packaging, design, shelf space, the theme of advertising or advertising expenditures, while observing the effects of these changes on another variable.

Selection of the sampling procedure and sample size.

The fundamental questions are:

-Define the population

-Draw a representative sample of the population

In-deduct your sample results back to the people

The idea of inferential research (using a sample to represent the entire population) depends on a precise description of the population.

Usually only the population of the study can be defined as follows: All students in business administration and accounting policies with IPAM … or all potential consumers our product.

Sampling Method:

The sampling procedure must be described in detail wide. There are numerous sampling methods from which to choose. Describe in detail how you will select the sample. Use specific names, location, etc. Here you apply the methods learned, not to describe in terms of their advantages and disadvantages, for example, benefits random sampling are:

Instrumentation:

Here the emphasis is on research tools. For example, questionnaires, interviews, etc. focus group discussion If you are using a survey instrument that was designed by someone else, indicate the source of the investigation. Describe the theoretical variables that the survey attempted to measure. Including a copy of the survey itself, for example, attached questionnaire.

Method of data analysis.

The analysis plan should be described in detail. Explain how each research question, objectives or assumptions will be analyzed. Describe the type of statistical tests to be performed to meet the hypothesis.

State which variables will be included in the analysis and identify the dependent variables and dependent if such relationships exist. Researchers may also use techniques beginning with simple frequency analysis, and finally led to several complex technical variables.
