British Rail Ferries
British Rail – plane crash?
With a plane crash "in the Midlands today, something I'm sure everyone wishes to sympathize with relatives again, I wonder why the passengers were not transported to another location in London, use the Train service via Wigan North West and a bus to their destination?
The only rail line that serves London Wigan North West London. Trains from London Euston have been diverted via Brum. The problem is that taking this diversion takes time and trains to take on congested lines railway through. Virgin Trains Birmingham worked with Network Rail to put on some sort of timetable. To use another Terminus in London would have involved a much longer route and we have a great shortage of suitable stock diesel. The alternative would have been trying to run a train Virgin Kings Cross via Edinburgh and down to Wigan, but the labor, costs, etc. far outweigh the benefits gained.
