Mumbai commuter
The Suburban Railway System in Mumbai is an important public transport system of the city. More than 6.9 million commuters to use services of this system every day on a daily basis. It has the highest density of passengers in a system of street railway in the world. These Trains better known as local trains.
The Mumbai Suburban Railways and Indian Railways, were built by the British in India in 1853. This is The railway system is the oldest in Asia. The first Train began running between Mumbai and Thane station and covered the distance of 34 km.
Facilities
The sub urban railway spreads over 464 miles, and operates on 1500 V DC / AC 25000 V. These trains are run by electric multiple units (EMU).
Corridors and Areas
There are 2 railway zone, the railroad of the West and Central Station.
Western line
The 2 lanes on Western Railway run northwards from Churchgate terminus and moves parallel to the west coast. These corridors are known as 'Western Line' by the local population.
Central line
The center line is composed of 3 large or corridors, which are then turned. The 2 lanes on Central Railway run Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) to Kalyan and the other faces Khopoli in the southeast. These corridors consist of 2 "main line. There is also the availability fast and slow space here for the commuter service.
Harbour line
The line is also a port on the part of the Central Station, and here, a train will Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Andheri, Panvel and Thane. All services in the Port of online services are slow. This line is operational from 2 separate platforms at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The dividing line in port Vashi in 2 lines – we joined the main line to Thane, while the other line continues. The rise of the great section of the line port is in progress.
For Tourists
Tourists should avoid getting on the train during the week or at least during the hours point where the trains are crowded. The most appropriate day to take advantage of these trains is Sunday, the crowd is quiet, relatively less. Travelers can then visit various places in Mumbai by the Mumbai locals and enjoy the view scenes from the economic capital of India. During the week, it must be prudent to enter the express train or "fast trains" especially one that will virar.
