What effect did the privatization of British Rail on the rail network in Britain?
First railways are not really privatized Network Rail owns the infrastructure and, although described as "non profit", they are effectively nationalized. The privatization of various rail companies – First Great Western, Virgin offers etc. to the Ministry of Transport of the Government to run services for a period of time, usually 7 years. The government says the frequency and number of Trains for each firm and inflexible exercises this control. The short period of each franchise and the strict controls discourage the railways to make investments or to exercise all their entrepreneurial skills. However, after a very rocky start, the privatization of the rail, as it is. resulted in an increase of 50% utilization National Network and hundreds of new trains. Punctuality is more than 90% for most companies, and marketing and cleanliness of trains largely im proved. Hundreds of new trains entered service too, on many routes have doubled. Frequencies British Rail was not nearly as bad as the media liked to hear, but the semi privatized system is better, and would be even better with more franchises and freedom from regulation government.
