St George Hail!
St George is the patron saint of England. There will always be people identified with England and English ideas of honor, bravery and gallantry. Its emblem of a red cross on a white background is the flag of England and is also part of the British flag too. Perhaps it is more widely recognized as the murderer of the dragon in the well-known story of George and the Dragon.
Day St George is April 23. The celebration of the feast of St. George's is currently a fairly small business in England. Especially compared to how other countries celebrate their patron saint. For example, Ireland St Patrick's Day is widely celebrated throughout the United Kingdom and the United States.
Therefore there is a national campaign to make St. George a day to be recognized throughout the United Kingdom, to celebrate our English heritage. For officially mark as England National Day with calls to a holiday too.
Many events are always held across England in celebration. St George is also the patron saint of scouting. So, this day will also see thousands of Scouts and guides throughout the parade in the streets of England and the high participation in special religious services.
