Holidays In Devon The English Riviera
The English Riviera is located in South Devon and provides the perfect base for exploring the coastal towns of the county, dramatic coastline, golden sandy beaches, family attractions, beautiful scenery and hotels Devon. It covers the three cities unique Paignton, Torquay and Brixham are all located overlooking Torbay.
Torquay
Torquay is beautifully situated on the sea side resort town makers to attract all ages. It has been a popular tourist destination since the Victorian era and was the birthplace and home of the renowned writer of crime, Agatha Christie.
The town is anchored in history with its Kents Cavern prehistoric caves and the First World War II holds. The Kents Cavern is recognized as one of the largest age stone caves in Great Britain – he has revealed more about palaeolithic Britain than anywhere else. Tours guide you through these caves 2 million years old and there are also ghosts available shows to watch in the summer months.
Torquay's waterfront is the focal point of the city, with the palm-lined promenade, landscaped gardens, a bustling port and international marina. There are a variety of pubs, restaurants, nightlife, specialty shops and a host of attractions for all tastes. There are also a variety of types of accommodation from cottages beachfront luxury homes hotels in Devon .
There are nine beaches located around the area Torquay which include Blue Flag beaches and beach Oddicombe Beach Meadfoot who both cafes and toilets so perfect for a family day out.
Brixham:
Brixham is a small fishing village across the bay from Torquay to the south end of the crescent that forms Torbay. The narrow picturesque streets are lined with shops selling local goods, refreshments and of course the local fresh fish. There are a number of hotels located Devon Coast Brixham, with picturesque cottages and guest rooms. It is a city that is rich in maritime history and is still an active fishing port providing local businesses in the Southwest.
Berry Head is well worth a visit. This beautiful limestone peninsula reaches 65 meters the sea and is a popular scenic tourist spot with stunning views, a beacon of foreground and nature reserve. The head of the Nature Reserve Berry has also two well-preserved Napoleonic War Forts and important WWII heritage.
Paignton:
Paignton is a popular family resort on the beach famous for its long sandy beaches, attractions beach and lively promenade. The bustling waterfront offers a host of attractions, golf and water slides for fun Quaywest.
Family attractions include Paignton Zoo, which houses thousands of plants, animals and endangered species and the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway Stream that takes you to Kingswear. You can even make a trip to the River Dart takes you to the castle of Dartmouth, Dittisham and Greenway House.
Babbacombe Bay and St Marychurch:
Both Small villages are situated on the outskirts of Torquay and provide a quieter alternative to the more lively town of Torquay. The two parishes of St Mary and Babbacombe independent stores, a wide range of cafes and restaurants.
Babbacombe is perched atop the cliffs of red sandstone that may be distinctive seen along the Jurassic Coast. The waterfront is lined with restaurants and guest houses and you head down to Babbacombe beach, it is perfectly gastro-pub located overlooking the bay.
