Evening Star Steam Engine

Museums are the highlight of visiting the capital of California
Sacramento is not just any old capital of the state – it is also a virtual theme park for lovers of art historians, and just about anyone who wants to learn more about the state of California.
It is tempting to say that it is an amusement park for adults – but it is really not just for adults. In fact, a visit to Sacramento will probably Tour one of the most beneficial to your youth will never. They will learn about the government, the Far West, the railroads, Native Americans, the Gold Rush and many other topics in dozens of exhibitions and museums Sacramento.
We stopped by the Convention and Visitors Bureau Sacramento, where we got cards and a long list of attractions. The CVB is just around the corner of highlights, as the Governor's Mansion and Many Victorian houses and beautifully maintained architecture located in the downtown area.
We then drove on to take the obligatory photos State Capitol Building, keeping an eye on the Governor of California movie star. But, alas, is Arnold the Capitol and Governor's Mansion – even if we said the governor is often spotted having lunch at Esquire Grill or eat at restaurants Lucques and Biba. In any event, the State Capitol Museum makes the decision more trouble with its exhibits and artifacts from the Great 1906 Earthquake in San Francisco and a film has just been unveiled 3-D on the disaster.
Near We found several other museums to explore. For example, the Crocker Art Museum is located in one of the most beautiful city and its Victorian houses is, in fact, the oldest museum of art in the West. Founded in 1873, now boasts a museum of art European origin and master drawings and paintings of the 19th century in California, sculptures and Asia.
We stopped in the California Museum of History, Women and the Arts, which offers exhibits on colorful and descriptive most women who have contributed to help California to develop to its current stature. As with most museums we visited, visitors can spend several hours in this museum just soak of fascinating facts about the Golden State.
For history buffs perhaps the best place in town to go, Old Sacramento, which has a number of museums including the California Military Museum, Discovery Museum History Center, Old Sacramento Interpretation Centre, the Old Sacramento Schoolhouse And the Wells Fargo History Museum.
Topping the list is the historic California State Railroad Museum which is said to one of the best museums in the country road iron. The 100,000 square-meter museum features many actual railcars as well as various real Locomotives. You can see what a station of the 19th century was really a very authentic replica right on the premises.
We were surprised by the Railway Museum because many different types of cars and locomotives were on display within one place. The Trains are in tip-top condition and you can always find one museum volunteers to explain how this or that worked or why the Steam Engine has been particularly important. It is a model Detailed railway upstairs and exhibits explaining the history of model railroading. We have to say, this museum was a favorite for adults and children in our crowd.
Old Sacramento, a local official visitor told us, was once the skid row to Sacramento that in the 1960s, a major redevelopment project has been initiated to restore many historic buildings and attract new businesses in the region. The history of Old Sacramento dates back to 1839 when it became the first colony in the commercial area. The discovery of gold in near Coloma in 1849, the business community along the Sacramento River began to prosper. Local miners had to have services such as hotels, lounges, shops and outfitters bathroom.
Today, Old Sacramento is back this early atmosphere and everyone seems to love it – it attracts now more than 5 million visitors each year. Although we have noticed several vacancies in the commercial area, which could be simply because the old Sacramento is now considered one of the most expensive places in Sacramento to do business.
The area has been restored with streets paved Gaslamp and boardwalks, and you get the feeling of walking through a city of the Far West. Of course, there are some accusations that particular Wild West city has been somewhat tamed: T-shirt shops abound and seem there are many shops and chocolate candy, not to mention pizza and just about anything other explorers of today can feel like eating.
The shops in Old Sacramento – whatever some sticky may be – are almost all housed in historic buildings. Among those 53 buildings still standing is a firehouse built in 1853, threats first California and the BJ Hastings Building which was the terminus of the West to the Pony Express.
For a unique adventure night in Sacramento, try to stay on board King of the Delta, an early 20th century paddle-wheel riverboat. The boat once offered ban drinking at the time, jazz bands and silver for his fun-loving passengers who, like the passengers in the 1920s, today's guests enjoy magnificent views of the river, great food and drinks and a comfortable cabin is like no other accommodation you knew. But unlike those early passengers, you have to be content a landscape that remains fairly constant. The Delta King is not going anywhere anytime soon.
On this visit, we spent night in a great choice for the land, the Hilton Sacramento Arden West. About five miles from the old town, the hotel is located in the part of the West Point of Sacramento and is particularly popular with business travelers because of its upscale amenities and endless typical Hilton, polished look and feel. We found the rooms to be spacious tastefully decorated and well insulated from any street noise. With its marble top, mattress pillow top and linens in 250-inch son, this hotel proved to be a luxury respite after a long day of museum-hop in Sacramento.
