What is there to do when you visit Swindon?

What can you do when you visit Swindon? Although you can not knock Swindonians Melinda Messenger as famous, there are still many interesting things to see and do in Swindon.

1. Shopping

Probably the best places to shop in Swindon are the main retail parks including Greenbridge, West Swindon Shopping Centre, Stratton and the Orbital Shopping Park. Or, if you are looking for branded goods cheaper then it is worthwhile to check the discounts offered at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet which it boasts the largest such development in Europe. There is plenty of room there, although some three million people a year are estimated to visit to save money on their products creators.

2. Railway Museum Steam

5. Sport

Home to Swindon Robins speedway team, you can take in an evening to watch this exciting sport in Abbey Stadium. There are three football teams in the league at the local level, including the Football League One Swindon Town FC If you like watching hockey on ice, then make sure your visit coincides with a home game for the Wildcats and Panthers. The fastest motocross Foxhill is located just outside the city.

6. History and Celebrities

If you are a fan of James Bond, then you can go Sevenhampton where Ian Fleming is buried. Music fans may want to see where the singer the Moody Blues' Justin Haywood was born. Those who like Mark Lamarr on television can see where he grew up in South Park. Swindon is also famous for being the location of the lending library of the United Kingdom first time in public. Not to be forgotten home of the Great Western Railways and the site of one of Isambard Kingdom Brunel railway works.
