How to fill your free time while visiting the NEPA
Northeastern Pennsylvania, commonly known as NEPA, is the northeast corner is interesting Pennsylvania. It's certainly no shortage of activities and attractions regardless of your interests. Coal mining has been widespread throughout the NEPA for many decades in the late 19th century and early 20th century. As the mining industry has declined as demand for anthracite coal, the area has been left with little more than abandoned coal breakers and wastelands once booming with minors and a daily activity both above and below ground. NEPA requires a spark to rekindle the enthusiasm that had made the area a popular place to resolve them. Although the days of coal mines were far from glamorous, they are part of history in the Northeast PA.
Enjoy the story This area was just a way to put the past to life and reproduce our local history for those who may find it of interest. With Mines coal were the railroads carrying coal in various cities including New York, New Jersey and surrounding areas. Scranton, in particular, has been appointed Electric City based on the fact that it was the first city to deploy an electric cart for public transport. These historical bits and pieces local history has opened the doors of many ideas for tourism.
Scranton, in particular, is home to a variety interesting sights, including the Steamtown Museum. Complete with its early roundhouses, and a center of modern fantasy, it is fun for family its best. There is something for all tastes including Train travel on the authentic steam Locomotive. Steamtown has prospered thanks to the fans of the old Locomotives who come from miles around to enjoy this trip back in the early days of locomotives with their families. Steamtown is a National Park. Literally a stone's throw away is another museum devoted to another form of transportation. The carriage museum, but not quite as big as Steamtown, is an interesting feature of many old trucks, interactive displays, and lots of vintage photographs. Another mining on the theme of attraction is the mine Lackawanna Coal tour where you are literally transported into a mine shaft and given a walking tour of the mines. This is a must if you like history extraction of coal or simply the history of life in NEPA back in the good ol days ..
Wilkes-Barre, a few miles south of Scranton had the chance to become the focus of a successful team of the Minor Hockey League, the star attraction of their game. But the scene hosts Many additional events, including the name of the top musicians, great circus name, motocross race inside and pulls trucks to do name a few. The Scranton / Wilkes-Barre area is also home to the AAA baseball team the Yankees minor league baseball fans. The Pocono area features ultra-modern casino environment, many resorts, dining, dancing and for those seeking nightlife. NEPA is fortunate to be gifted numerous golf awards including nine hole course and commencing eighteen-hole course quality professionals. If shopping is on your mind, the passages in Tannersville is loaded with shops and specialty stores. This is ideal if you enjoy an outdoor shopping experience. Scranton also has their own Crossings is a newly opened atop Montage Mountain.
Overall, you can not go wrong with a visit to the NEPA .. With friendly hospital and residents of many activities for the whole family occupied, Northeastern Pennsylvania has become a destination for those looking for action or some simple relaxation, whatever the season.
