Glenbrook Vintage Railway – the preservation of the history of railways
Glenbrook in New Zealand is home to Heritage sites countries primarily for the railroads. The Glenbrook Vintage Railway (GVR) is a Steam Train that is self-sufficient. With the support and volunteerism generated by fans of Trains GVR society could become a reality. The steam railway which operates is not a center which aims to a museum instead it is an ongoing assignment where pieces of railway property are collected, restored and reproduced the resources permit. The GVR along a track which is 6 km long and can carry 30,000 passengers both during the normal operation. Season begins in October and ends in June each year. Currently the company supports the GVR is working on plans to extend the railway line even farther Tamakae Reserve, located in the city Waiuku. For Railway Enthusiasts is perhaps one of the few places in the world where the beauty of rail and all the trimmings that go with it are preserved and even restored so that it can be appreciated by generations today. The center is updated and composed entirely by volunteers and each year the number of tourists continue to be more and more among those who would look at these beautiful engines The GVR organizes special events such as "Friends of Thomas the Tank Engine weekends. The program became a huge success with families who have grown up around this figure of the beloved story. Other exhibitions have been trains merchandise and even country and western themes that are going to steam during the night and day. With many hotels to choose from Auckland during holiday, tourists prefer to stay where it is convenient to access city motorways. In addition, the hotel is within walking distance of the business and shopping districts.
